Site-speed is not a technical detail, but a crucial business topic. At PageSpeed.ONE, we help dozens of websites achieve higher speeds and a more pleasant user experience every year.

In 2023 and 2024, we searched for the fastest Czech e-shop. This year, we are expanding the concept into the PageSpeed.ONE Awards and recognizing Czech and Slovak websites in various categories.

Before we move on to the evaluation and results, let's discuss why performance is so fundamental and whether anything is changing in the context of current events.

Why address site-speed in 2025? Market demands are changing, and AI is starting to have an influence

Faster websites tend to have better conversions, bring in more visitors thanks to SEO, and help you save on PPC advertising.

An example is the e-shop deNatura, which we helped gain 17% more visits from Google thanks to speeding it up at PageSpeed.ONE.

Is web performance still a topic in 2025, when we are on fast connections and people have fast devices? Yes, it is. Most websites are failing to keep up with increasingly strict market demands.

  1. User demands are growing.
The patience of Gen Z and younger generations is counted in low single-digit seconds or hundreds of milliseconds.
  2. Web technologies are more convenient for developers, but slower for users.
The mass transition to client-side rendering—the wave triggered by the React framework—"enriches" websites with tons of JavaScript, which is very slow on slower devices.
  3. Differences between devices are growing.
You likely have a high-end mobile in your pocket, but try using your websites on a device costing 200 USD. You will be surprised at how poorly usable it is.

Site-speed and stability are important, especially in the age of AI

During this year, we are seeing a sharp increase in robotic traffic among our clients. AI bots load servers just like real users, but unlike them, they (so far) don't buy anything and don't bring similar value.

For example, in seven days at PageSpeed.ONE, we collected four million requests from the USA for a successful Czech e-shop, 90% of which consisted of the AI indexer from Meta. Robots go crazy sometimes.

They often cause overload precisely when you need the website the most.

How did we select the PageSpeed.ONE Awards this year?

Compared to previous years 2023 and 2024, we changed a lot this year:

  1. We are adding more categories.
This year, in addition to e-shops, content sites, corporate sites, and others also competed.
  2. We are competing in Slovakia too.
For the first time, we selected the fastest websites not only in the Czech Republic but also in Slovakia.
  3. You could nominate your projects.
Until now, we selected the websites; this year, you could nominate your own project. We evaluated every website with active monitoring PLUS.
  4. We compared websites according to the new SPS score.
The new overall website speed score PageSpeed.ONE score operates on different principles. For example, in addition to the status of metrics, it also takes into account the distribution of their values among users.

We evaluated the websites based on data from November 28, 2025, and we were really curious about the results. Now we can move on to announcing them.

PageSpeed.ONE Awards for the Czech Republic: the winner is the e-shop JRC.cz

Websites from the Smarty.cz team are known for their phenomenal performance. After last year's win by iWant.cz, this year we see JRC.cz in first place in the Czech Republic, and the main brand website, Smarty.cz, in third place.

A round of applause, please!

What inspiration can be drawn from the JRC website?

  • Performance starts on the backend. JRC.cz websites are characterized by excellent server response. The TTFB metric value of 0.24 s is fantastic in the context of a relatively large e-shop. Moreover, stability is visible here, even during the ongoing Black Friday. Great job!
  • Very well-optimized frontend. The LCP metric value (Largest Contentful Paint) on mobile is 0.69 s, which means the frontend manages to deliver content in a respectable 450 ms. Good old data optimization helps this – e.g., the HTML product page is only 15 kB, CSS is 19 kB, and JS is around 300 kB.
  • The JRC.cz website also makes very good use of modern optimization means – from Back/Forward Cache, through images in WebP format, to the use of lazy loading.
  • Good old server technology. The fact that Smarty does not use React or other modern frontend gimmicks allows them to reduce optimization costs.

Congratulations to these websites for their great site-speed:

Website SPS score (%)

Now let's focus on the winners of the individual industry rankings.

E-commerce

The first three places in the e-commerce category for the Czech Republic are very similar to the overall ranking. It is evident that people in e-commerce know that web performance brings conversions.

Website SPS score (%)
1 jrc.cz 97.4

Biggest Improver in E-commerce

Given that we have previously announced the fastest e-shop for the Czech Republic, we have data for their placement in long-term rankings. The e-shop that moved up the most positions in the ranking when comparing 2024 and 2025 is Grizly.cz. Although it still lacks a bit to reach the performance of the best websites, it moved up 26 positions in the ranking for the better.

The fastest corporate website for 2025 belongs to Kornfeil.com, which was helped into the world by the agency SUPERKODERS.

PageSpeed.ONE Awards for Slovakia: the winner is WOOX.sk

For the first time, we are also selecting the fastest websites in Slovakia. The PageSpeed.ONE Award goes to WOOX.sk and the agency mime digital.

A round of applause, please!

WOOX.sk is practical proof of what we have been saying for a long time. Websites on boxed solutions can achieve top performance.

Slovak WOOX is built on the Shoptet platform, about which we talked a lot this year, collaborated on the optimization of the platform core, and for some time now, Shoptet optimization has been among our services. How does this website achieve its results?

  • Excellent backend response.
If there is one thing that cannot be denied about Shoptet, it is the value of the TTFB metric, which they serve for all their 40,000 e-shops. Here at WOOX.sk, it is 0.36 s on mobile.

  • High-quality execution of custom design adjustments.
Unlike many other e-shops on this most popular Czech e-commerce platform, the custom adjustments at WOOX are technically processed in such a way that they do not destroy user experience and do not worsen the frontend metrics LCP (loading speed) and CLS (layout stability).

Congratulations to all winners and awardees within the PageSpeed.ONE Awards! But what can all web developers take away from the competition? After analyzing this year's results and taking into account our experience optimizing the websites of PageSpeed.ONE clients, we have prepared several recommendations for you.

Optimizations to improve site-speed that work

  1. Watch your backend. This year, during optimizations, we also started focusing on the TTFB metric, i.e., backend response speed. A slow backend negatively affects user experience across all Core Web Vitals metrics. And this year, we see how unpreparedness for fluctuations caused by Black Friday or AI bots damages the business of many websites.
  2. Watch out for slow interactions. Another big topic of this year is INP optimization, i.e., interaction response speed. We help clients optimize JavaScript with developers, but analytics itself, specifically the way GTM is set up, is also becoming a crucial topic.
  3. Lazy loading correctly. This simple optimization of loading speed (LCP) is still a cause of headaches because simple things are too easily messed up. Developers, really make sure you understand the principle of lazy loading correctly and check it.
  4. Back/forward cache. How to improve user experience so that even your boss notices? "Turn on" BFcache on the website.
  5. Go for Cloudflare. Yes, the recent outage of this popular service hurt us all a little. However, when we compare it with how Cloudflare can help websites with speed, stability, or security, the account is unequivocally positive. We can now help you with Cloudflare too.
  6. Implement WebP images. And a classic to finish. We still encounter websites that have not used this relatively easy speed boost. Do you still have old-fashioned JPEG images? Deploy WebP, it almost always helps greatly and visibly speeds up the website.

Want more general tips? Check out our checklist.

Just be careful, every website is unique, and the most effective way is to choose custom optimizations.

How are your websites doing?
